One day, in 1970, I was wondering if I could design a starship. So, I came up with some unproven propulsion ideas, from a fictional story I read, and just scaled things up from that. I could just as easily have decided to draw log cabins, but decided on a starship instead.
Besides, I couldn’t find even an implausible method for propelling log cabins through interstellar space.
